NEW SCHOOL PIPE BAND

In 2015 the then Head Master of Wynberg Boys High School, Mr Keith Richardson, decided to start up the school pipe band and acquired the services of piping instructor, Mr Gareth Rudolph.

In January 2016 during the Wynberg Boys High School 175th Anniversary year, the pipe band was kitted out in their new uniforms. Afro-Celtic Sporrans designed and crafted the sporrans, belt buckles and kilt pins.  All carry the schools badge in gloriously enamelled colour.

Owner, Will Carter of Staghorn Scottish Outfitting & Kilt Hire, designed and registered this exclusive ‘weathered’ tartan unique to Wynberg Boys High School with colours and thread count relating especially to its 175 year history. Staghorn also handcrafted all the kilts.

The pipe band - under pipe major Ethan Robertze  - dressed in their new uniforms were presented to the school’s wide community and performed their first official parade on Wynberg’s 175th Founder’s Day.

School pipers and drummers will graduate and set off on another journey but their legacy will live on.
